06 Oct Prayers for Puerto Rico
We are deeply saddened about the devastation and catastrophe Hurricane Maria caused in Puerto Rico. Hurricane Maria practically destroyed the entire island.
Our prayers go out to all of those who were affected in any way by this tragedy. While we are ALWAYS going to keep Puerto Rico in our prayers, we also plan to take action and do anything that we can to help. Doing all that we can is very serious and Puerto Rico needs our help. We must step up and unfortunately pick up the SLACK from others:
There are several ways you can get involved with assisting Puerto Rico. We recommend you to donate to locally. We are stressing the importance of donating locally because big Non Profit corporations like RedCross are only required to donate 15% of their proceeds to the actual cause. Yes, you read correctly only FIFTEEN PERCENT. This is a local GoFundMe you can make cash donations to. The proceeds from this GoFundMe will go to Unidos por Puerto Rico, a public-private initiative started by the office of the First Lady Beatriz Isabel Roselló and a group of companies to help the victims of the storm. You can also donate supplies such as formula, bug spray repellent (OFF), topical ointment (hydrocortisone, calamine lotion, antibiotic cream), Clorox disinfectant wipes, over the counter medicine (Tylenol, Advil, Aleve), band-aids, wound dressings, baby wipes, mouthwash, candles, citronella candles, first aid kits, batteries, flashlights, water, soap, deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrush, towels, diapers, matches, feminine products (pads, tampons) to The Philadelphia Prevention Partnership at 1628 Church Street, Philadelphia, PA 19124.
Although, FEMA has recently removed updates on Puerto Rico, you can still check out this link to be kept informed about how much of the island has power, water, cell service, ect here.
We must remember the importance of unity in this time of need. You can make a huge a difference! Let’s help restore this beautiful island! We also understand other islands have been devastated so we also encourage you all to share your donation links/locations in the comments section.
