Happy Birthday to the great Martin Luther King, Jr.! MLKJ was the most visible spokesperson and leader in the Civil Rights Movement. His many contributions have paved the way of integration throughout America. We can thank MLKJ for integration in the health services. I’m so grateful to be able to celebrate such a significant holiday!

In honor of his day and while black excellence is at it’s all time high (as it will always be), I want to take a moment to shine light on a few Nursepreneurs. Here are 5 black nurses you should follow:

If you aren’t already following Murse Mike, @offficialmursemike, my question to you is “HOW??” Murse Mike is a family man, a southern gentleman and also an ER/STICU Neuro/Flight Nurse based in Atlanta, GA. Murse Mike founded gogoNurse which is fun, easy to use, and a SAFE AND TRUSTED hub connecting business with customers, travelers with other travelers, and hosts with potential renters. You can do cool things like list an extra space you have for rent to another medical professional and read about different cities that they have explored. Murse Mike and his team are working to spread the word about gogoNurse “in hopes that it will make the hectic lives of my fellow nurses a little bit easier.” Murse Mike is also a blogger/vlogger and discusses many issues that matter most to nurses.

Monica Elston is a Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner and a Women’s Health Medelita HIP Ambassador. After passing the American Nurses Credentialing Center FNP Boards, she started her first job as a Nurse Practitioner in Obstetrics & Gynecology at MGUH being the FIRST EVER African-American Nurse Practitioner hired in Obstetrics & Gynecology at Medstar Georgetown University Hospital. Valentine Ewudo, @valewudo, is a proud Nigerian, Fit ER Travel Nurse, speaker, health and leadership coach, and entrepreneur.
